Home for the holidays: Prepping your home for holiday guests

Having family in your home for the holidays can be a lot of things: exciting, special, and maybe even a little chaotic! Beat the stress so you can focus on making treasured memories with your family with our tips for preparing your home for holiday guests:

Guest room prep

Make your guest suite feel like a cozy home away from home. It's the details that will make your guest's stay truly memorable — things like having a phone charger waiting on the table next to a comfy bed, and having the bathroom stocked with luscious-smelling soaps and decadently soft towels.

For the guest bedroom

Start by creating a comfortable, inviting space with a cozy bed they can snuggle up in after an evening of holiday revelry.

It's the little details that make all the difference, like an elegant frame on the nightstand that contains your WiFi network and password information. Bedside stocks a variety of frames in all sizes and styles.

A tasteful clock is a practical yet lovely addition to any bedside table as well.

Another great addition to the nightstand: a carafe and drinking glass so they won't have to make a trip to the kitchen for a midnight sip of water. This one is from Pigeon & Poodle.

Keep the bed comfortable with a crisp set of sheets like Sferra's Grande Hotel, Matouk Essex or Pom Pom At Home's sustainable Bamboo option.

Don't forget to add a soft down pillow for your guests to rest their heads.

One more important detail: extra covers in case your guests get chilly at night. It can be anything from a bed-sized blanket to a plush throw, as long as it's readily available -- think folded at the end of the bed or in full view in the closet -- and perfect for snuggling up in.

For the guest bathroom

Make their bathroom feel like a spa with fluffy towels and luxe body products. Bonus: provide a soft robe or loungewear as a gift to thank them for spending their holiday with you.

Some of our favorite towels are the super-soft and absorbent Matouk Lotus, Yves Delorme Etoile and Matouk Quincy. Any of these would be a luxurious option for a guest bathroom.
